Me too. He has done quite a bit on my vans and well worth going all the way down to Kent to get someone I know I can trust to do a good job at a fair price (because my welding is shite! :lol: ) and who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of Ford Transits!

Been getting on with bits on Baz, although we have had the front panel offered up, it can't go on until we sort out the tops of the headlamp panels.
The right hand side is worse;

A replacement part had to be made for this, we started with a card template which was then transfered to steel and the part cut and shaped;
Image

Because of the shape of this part it was necessary to produce it in sections and weld it together. The parts were clamped to the existing panel and tacked together. Welding and final shaping produced this;

Next the rusty part was removed ready to fit our new part, the upper part of the headlamp panel it fixes to is also in a poor condition. A replacement will need to be made for this;

Just let me know when Colin and I'll put the kettle on :D

Another member on here has a replacement bonnet, (the one on Bax is a bit sad), he would like to 'trade' it for a few new panels. Be good to get a better one as bits of it keep falling on my head :shock:

Have to see what we can do - diary a bit crazy at the moment. Taking the Mk3 down to Malaga again end of next week (via France & Spain). Seats were posted earlier on the thread:

PM me on the bonnet - need to keep an eye on budget!

All the best - looking good.

Today the upper part of the right hand headlamp panel was replaced, not only was it necessary to replace the top but the vertical part by the radiator was also in poor condition. We started with this part;

We then replaced the top part;
Image

Captive nuts were welded to the underside of the panel to accept the front panel fixings, then the upper part was spot welded to the new headlamp panel top and seam welded at the 'join';

Paint tomorrow :D
Sorry for the very poor pictures chaps :oops:
