My daily is a Mondeo ST220 which has basically the same engine - it's a mega engine too! I think the Jag has a different valvetrain than the Mondeo, and variable cams. All aluminium and a very compact unit. What trans are you going to run behind it? Manual or auto?

My diesel either gets tramp or spins, one or the other!

Its one of the things to sort before next year, but I have some good ideas to be the 18s mark (still with standard turbo and 100ps injectors)

Ignition system/ecu/sensors etc all going to stay as standard, just going to remove the loom needed to run the engine and thats is it (will try and keep the cruise control if we can)
Traction control/abs/aircon etc basically all the non essential stuff will be getting binned

Gonna be using the manual box thats already in the jag, will obv have to make up some custom engine mounts but thats not a massive problem, the only problem will be the gear stick and where to put/mount it.

Yeh we first toyed with the idea of a st24 unit just for the ease and availability of the cars but had trouble getting a diffinative answer as to what box would fit it......so then looked at jag boxes........then looked at whole jags........found they were much more powerful and here we are

Anyone need any bits from an s-type as it will be getting broken

Cool I'll be watching how you get on Tim is going to look at making me an adaptor plate to mount it to a transit box once I find a donor. The 3l makes 220 ish bhp in the car so once decated it should move a transit along nicely.

Have you investigated the engine management system to see if the engine loom can be separated from the chassis loom, and if the ECU will run as a standalone system, without requiring inputs from other control modules, or speed inputs, fuel level etc?

Yeh we've got an electrical diagram manual and lukes fairly confident (electricals are his job  ) that it can be run just on its own, we will probably need to keep the clocks but we'll see
