Swap tow bar from Luton to Jumbo?

Postby cormie » Sun Aug 30, 2015 6:45 pm

Hey folks,
Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to swap a tow bar from a chassis cab/luton to a jumbo or is it a different tow bar needed for each? The Jumbo has a factory fitted reversing sensor bumper on it (like this: http://www.maroochycarsound.com.au/site ... k=qaYfbCeq) so I'm not sure if that would cause complications too?

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Hi I think it will be different mate as it's off a pickup chassis. As for the bumper I had this problem and ended up fitting a standard bumper. Just measure how wide the chassis is apart I think it will be about 100mm to short

Wasn't too sure where to measure, but took these photos: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=162530&start=15#p1377288

Could you not find a tow bar that could be fitted with the reverse sensor bumper? How much did you pay for the tow bar?

Thanks a lot for the reply, I assume it doesn't matter whether it's a Jumbo, LWB, SWB etc, just as long as it's ok for the bumper?

I think this might be the one here: http://www.pfjones.co.uk/transit-van-st ... w-bar.html

Would that be the right one?

Brilliant, thanks a lot for your help! I'm going to try see if they have a detachable one too as I wouldn't be using it too often and would be nice just to be able to quickly remove the ball section when not in use.
