Will have more up soon, Slow is the work at the mo as the budget is small to none sadly, Fire wood is the top for the free work space in the shed sadly,
Check in tho. The rear may just end up a mad mod Transit Trailer as its still hear & you never know what may end up at the end of the Mig

Love the interest in my we ute.

Mk1 Ute Ratrod Transit - New Zealand Build Hotrod or Notrod

Postby towtnz » Wed Jul 01, 2015 7:11 am

An Update for June/July for Notrod.

So the house has another mouth on the way now so that has forced the hand of change, (Brace Ya Self). The Blowup V6 Twin Turbo has been pushed
to the back of the shed, Need to remove the turbos & related bits (ooow), The Final Motor has changed and is going to go straight in now.
The new motor when into the shed last week, One Holden Commodore (Ozzy) 3.8L V6 With an Auto, Yeah I no Auto but wife cant drive it home
if its manual, It only just fits on a quick trip around the engine bay with a tape. Radiator heading south under tray now as it will end up with a
twin turbo setup after its on the road and WOF (MOT) man is happy. More photos to come up soon including the "Holly crap that's a Mk1 Flatnose transit
in that paddock" photos.

Back soon!! 8)

Well its been tricky but i have it sorted now, i believe

The Datsun (D21) Chassis has plates on hold, with the percentage of change's just the cab & a motor swap, I've been told its just a cert for mods, to the Datsun.
So it's a Cert for, cab mounts, steering colum (Holden), brack's (Upgraded 4 pot mmc gto), Diff (Holden) and motor & Box Holden, Engine mounts and gas tank.

Apparently its not a scratch build due to no chassis mods.

Will have all that go up as it moves along tho. Cab chassis will start to come off in the new two weeks so getting closer to chopping floor.
New shed has a handy dandy pit so magic for the grinder and welder.

After the big move and Xmas not too much has happened I've been unpacking the shed and setting up tools. Had the datsun with plates sadly fall thru as my mate passed away. Have also had the new child arrive. The new year brings the drive to sort out the floor chop and can mounts first up. Wile also getting that pesky tig welder for the shed too. All going well should be on a new chassis by and of 2016 under its own power. The motor n box are sitting and waiting. Most things are sorted the xjs bonnet bits will find the way to the mk1 bonnet soon aswell. Will chuck up some more photos in the next month. Much better camera now. Also now working graveyard shifts so less beers more work on the Ute 8)

The std system is long gone and nothing I in place yet . for what I'm doing there is 3 ideas floating around. 2 small radiators above tires / guards like the old mini on the side but x2. Behind the cab , and under the very rear of the tray past the diff.
There's not really any room with a v6 in there and a flat nose so makes it fun. I'm not wanting to hackup the fire wall to much. Hope that helps ya.
