Hobby's which invlove your Transit..

Postby knobby1 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 12:38 am

Hi All,
Just thought I'd start another thread to see what hobbys or sports people do which may involve the use of your Transit. Could be kayaking, motorcycle racing, pushbike/mountain bike riding, dog shows or grooming....or whatever tickles your fancy.

My Transit is basically my daily driver but on most weekends I use it to take my jet powered Go-Kart and 1/4 scale jet dragster to car shows, bike shows, fetes, car and motorcycle race meets, drags, speedway etc...I also have a few drones which I like to fly around the place to take videos and pics from above etc..

My Transit is LWB and High roof so with me being 6' tall I can stand up straight and with the Go-Kart being just shy of 3m long, it fits in with ~40cm to spare..! :D

Here's a pic of my little setup....note my 2008 Mk7 T350 170ps Transit in the top left and the 1/4 scale jet dragster sitting on the table:

Also note my "contracted driver" Stuart is quite happy to be there..!

The little jet dragster is good for ~235kmh and the Go-Kart has been clocked at just a shade over 264kmh..!

Probably best not to mention grooming round here, and no it isn't illegal for me to have a disco ball in the back of my van :?

My hobbies that i use the van for are.

1. Shopping (plenty of)
2. Fixing
3. hoarding food wrappers
4. Inventing
5. Sleep in it/camping/taking my model flying machines to camping.
6. dogs and bicycles to places.

Cool, I got ~a dozen multirotors, all sorts, big aerial photography platforms, flippers, micros, mini racers etc...then I've got the silly jet dragster.....geezus she's quick, weighs ~13kg ready to run but has over 25kg of thrust on full afterburn...

Also have a SAB Goblin 380, running 6s...have just recently learned to do some flips 'n rolls, funnels etc...I'm not very good but I find it very enjoyable if not a little stressful, I don't want to go ploughing a $1500 heli into the ground and watch it do the chicken dance..! Been very lucky so far, not even a heavy lending yet...I know I'll crash at some point though..! :?
