Can't really agree. I think my van is very stable at "top speed".
Braking it not an issue either, much better then my old mk7.5.

Yea but when you apply emergency brake with that speed van definitely not gonna stay stable is a 2t vehicle and 2m tall.

There are a lot of cars with similar height and weight and they do just fine.[/quote]
Yes but they are built different lower drive different wheels etc....

I agree about the standard van but my sport has better tyres bigger front brakes and runs more car like front suspension setting so they could remove it . I have had mine up on the limiter and it is as happy as my 4x4 .

Yepp :!:

Even though my van is a 270 limited I find the brakes good enough for the "insane" speeds these vans do (or should do).
Just had my van 101% loaded on the highway. Except for the sidewind in high speeds I had no issues what so ever.

I can agree that a fully loaded van maybe shouldn't be doing 100+ mph but that rule can also be applied to cars as well.

I did 178 km/h with my Tourneo several times and it feels pretty good and stable. I don't agree with your point.

I still have huge anger at Ford Otosan which claims that my car DOES NOT HAVE ANY SPEED limiters! A car can be dangerous at any speed. There is no law here to require Ford install any speed limiters but since they don't have a clue about ECU which Peugeout does I think, this gets very stupid with Ford.

Also as law of physics, bigger and heavier cars drive much safer and stable, as long as tires and brakes are made accordingly.

And they're not on the Custom, they're rated at 106mph (chav chariot excepted).

Ford does have to abide by EU directives just like every other vehicle manufacturer.

What are the "EU directives" that ford have to follow which results in a 100mph limiter?

Exclude the crappy tires ford delivers the vans with cause that's their own fault.

It's a commercial vehicle, designed for the carriage of goods, not for tearing up the Tarmac on motorways at 100mph (where laws allow), so tyres rated at 106mph are more that adequate.

Continental tyres are hardly 'crappy', but the Custom size is R rated. People already put the incorrect wheels and tyres on vans so Ford are reducing the risk to other road users by limiting the speed of their vans.

There are plenty of correct size tyres that have a higher speed rating.
