Noisey fuel tank

Postby mainroaduk » Sun May 13, 2007 10:16 am

Just wondered if any of you have got a noisey fuel tank, the tank on my mk6 makes a right racket when I stop, and surprisingly if I`m creeping along in 1st gear then stop makes more noise than when I stop quickly from 60mph. Surely this noise can`t be normal?

While were talking noises, I`ve got another one I forgot to mention
When I pull up at traffic lights, the van makes a clicking sound, maybe one click every 30 seconds or so, although I`ve tried finding a pattern it just does it randomly. When I first got the van I thought it was the amp, but I can hear it even when the amp is unplugged, any ideas on this one?

The fuel knock from the tank with between half and quarter of a tank can be reduced by fitting some additional pads between the tank and the chassis. The is a TSB about it so a local dealer can help you source the parts needed.

Re the 30 second click.......................Do you have A/C

You should always run A/C once a week to stop the mechanical seal drying out on the conpressor which stops the gas from leaking out!
