Usually because one or the other calliper sticks off. The van is seldom used and kept in the concrete garage and this is making the problem worse (slightly damp over winter), obviously have to leave the handbrake off in the garage as once it got stuck on in there.

I just wish the van had drum brakes on the rear and not discs, as it has cost a lot of money like you. Have had both callipers replaced and a cable. Each service the mechanic cleans and greases the sliders and it works for a few months.

I forgot to report what was wrong and how I fixed problem. I changed rear brake pads. First I had Bosch brake pads and I replaced them with Textar brake pads. Now the hand brake works well. It sems that Bosch pads were to hard or something

Had egr issues and blanking didnt stop the EML coming on. After speaking to a few including Martyn (just too far away :-( ) eventually I found someone just up the road from me. EGR now deleted and included a map for £150. No light and you can feel the difference in power :-).

Found a new problem - knock on cold start with misfire for 200 yards, then all OK. Bound to be more expense!

*Creative as well as Functional*

I was given a small sample of a red reflective vinyl but a local vinyl wrap company last week and never did anything with it till this week. I was trying to decide what would be the best way to use this reflective vinyl.. Shame it wasn't large enough or I would would have done the European style warning stripes on the rear of the van. Instead I just did a couple of rounded squares.

With a couple pieces from the sample left, I'm going to add triangle arrows at the jack points at the rocker panels on both sides of the van. Oh well at least I was able to use the reflective vinyl.

Apart from lying under the van looking for the cause of a squeal during boost I had a friend over to fill the air-con. Turns out there was a reason for the need of filling up fluid, the new gas escaped pretty much instantly! We thought it came from the condenser or the pipes going to it.
He's going to get a black light and look for the leak, there's some tracing fluid in the gas I think.
It may well be the condenser, does the front bumper need to come off to get to it?

I washed it and immediately regretted it, now all the chipped paint and rust spots stand out!
I'll never make that mistake again

I think I need to make new photos and put up a sales ad once again. I now have 6 cars and it is beyond normal.

Replaced the rubber antivibration mounts on the IC pipe, you know it's a Ford when you can go to any hardware store to get these sort of things and they fit perfectly

Then I started on some rust repairs, hate that stuff...

Replaced the cam belt and tensioner.
Why on earth have they designed the cam belt cover in such way that the motor mount and stud needs to be taken off first? Seems like one of those things that should be easy to take off so one can keep and eye on the belt, especially with that 240k km/10 year change interval.
This was the first belt change on my van as far as I know and the belt wasn't bad at all, could even read the Ford original numbers and logo on it and the teeth were all in good shape. The tensioner was fine too, no excessive play or anything that stood out.
Pretty good for a 170k km /9 years old belt :D
