In reply to the original thread if you can only find diesels with Pas you can use the PAS pump and pulleys etc from a Granada or sierra with a pinto, and then use the Mk4 rack. if you need a pipe makin g take both the car one and the van one and visit someone who does plant equipment repairs, or look in yellow pages as theyr eusually mobile to keep thye JCB fleets going!

Hi David

Mk3 is not a smiley, mk3 is 1986-1991, mk4 is 1991 to 1994, mk5 is 1994 to 2000.

The mk5 is the smiley model.

A mk3 190 will have leaf springs on the front and twin wheels, mk4 and mk5 will have coil springs and will either be single or twin wheel.

If you have a mk4/5 I have a complete power steering conversion sat on the shelf I am looking to sell...

Either a power steering box or do a complete IFS conversion and use a rack

Thread Revival Time!! :D :D

I've just had my 1988 Ex-BBC Outside Broadcast Mk3 Transit 190 converted from a 2L Pinto with Type 9 to a 2.5 Turbo DI (removed from a 1999 Factory Turbo Mk5) with MT75, and I am looking to retrofit power steering at some point in the future.
I have all the major parts (including the all-important rare as hen's teeth Mk3 Power Steering Box....) except for the high pressure Power Steering Pump to Power Steering Box pipework, and the low pressure Power Steering Box to Fluid Reservoir pipework.

Any good recommendations for places to get custom hydraulic power steering pipework for those who have done the Mk3 Power Steering Box conversion themselves in the past?
Also, does anyone know what pipework fittings are on the Power Steering box itself?

Thanks in advance!! :D
