mk6 ASM transit moves 1 meter then drops out of gear

Postby blfmtriv » Thu Aug 11, 2016 4:00 am

Hi i,m a newbie from way up here in the Top End
services are pretty limited out here so you have to give everything a go first

i have a mk6 transit 2004 ASM 2.4 duratec that i have just replaced the tail shaft , as the yard picked the transit up with a forklift and bent the rear shaft
before this the transit drove , but only up to 30kph before the vibrations came in from the bent shaft,

now that i,ve got a new rear tail shaft made, i cannot drive it

i put it into gear it flashes and as i pull off it drops out, same with reverse

have checked and confirmed bonnet switch ok and working, and door switches working
checked all fuses ok

could there be something in the gear box, it was awfully tight and i did slightly rotate the gearbox shaft as i was undoing
the loctite bolts

or could i have spiked the system by jump starting to many times, as once the cables did touch

please can i have your thoughts, the chooks are already eyeing off a new home

thanks

Sounds like a spike problem.
Try disconecting the battery/ies overnight. Leave ign. on to get rid of any residual voltages.

ok tried the battery off ign on over nite , no luck

i have gone through every relay, fuse again to make sure, it seem like a security thing as i can put the rear wheels up and

spin them, but as soon as i move 1 mtr you can feel the thing let go

any thoughts people

thanks andrew

ok test number 3

i have disconnected the speedo plug from the end of the gearbox, this enabled me to drive the van around the property in first gear

so i can say that there,s no issue with the gear box, it appear to be electrical

i cannot change the load status on the dash just sits on E

ant thoughts people please

hi all, i found the fuse in the asm (fuse 1) was a 15 amp not a 5amp as specified,

is the bonnet switch normal open or closed when the bonnet is down?

thanks

With bonnet closed, I would think it would be open circuit.

Dashboard modules have been known to become faulty.
Check and replug it a couple of times and see if this cures it.

Door switches MUST work properly for the system to work.

The unit that you press the D button etc and displays what might be happening.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Today my ford super f reader arrived from the uk, cost $56,and works on windows 10

plugged the computer in after down loading the program and read the error code, can someone please explain the code to me
below is a copy of the code,

also is the bonnet switch the same as the driver door switch, N/C WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND BONNET DOWN?

What is B1205-Electronic instrument cluster switch bank number 1 circuit failure?

Can't be 100%. But does sound like the module I've posted above.
You say the status load button doesn't change/work.
Is the popper button not working? It could be all that's wrong?

problem has been solved and rectified

ok for the record

bonnet switch and door switch for safety function, these switches are normally open when the bonnet is closed and door closed

the bonnet switch had malfunctioned, causing this,

once the fault was detected it could not be reset by battery disconnection

as stated above i purchased a ford f super version 2 from the UK, THIS TOOL IS EXCELLENT DIAGNOSTICS

i could only reset DTC whilst the engine was running and this did the trick

i reset all DTC and the van runs perfectly smooth in all gears,

end of problems
