Only joked with my brother the other day about making a trailer, no point for us though as it has a tail lift on it.
I've done a couple over the last few years.

I did the central locking in the Rover one the same as you're going to do, my only advice is have a back up wired in. I have a towbar on the Rover trailer and have wired two of the pins in the 12N socket direct to the battery for emergencies.
I had planned a proper charging socket like a caravan but never got round to it.Very keen to see how you get on, good luck with it.
