Rear wiper

Postby pcatterall » Mon May 28, 2007 8:58 pm

As my van now has rear windows I thought that a wiper would be nice.
I have tried a search on this subject but am getting nowhere.
There is a dished shape in the lower part of my hi roof doors plus a rubber grommet. Is this where a wiper motor could be fitted?? if so it looks like the spindle would have to go through the bonded rear window.
Is this possible.
Thaks guys.

Is it a tail gate or twin doors?

they do have wipers on tailgated and double door versions so it should be possible - depends how much you want to spend - second hand bits may be hard to find - good luck

Got wipers on my doors, and yes the spindle goes through the glass.

You'll need the glass with the hole already there for the wiper spindle, door harness (main loom in D pillar should have the wiring in place) and wiper stalk with rear wipe control on. There isn't much that doesn't just plug in and work on a mk6 :P

Wouldnt it be easier to just put an indepedant switch on the dash rather than change the wiper stalk?

try getting a new wiper kit from a boat dealer. they are reasonably cheap and most can be programed for path sweep etc. should be easy enough to plug into existing wiring?
