Mk 1 seat swap question

Postby jenningsroadranger » Wed Aug 09, 2017 8:24 pm

I remember reading a thread somewhere by someone who replaced mk 1 seats with later ones. I currently have the brown camper seats (single passenger seat) in and we have just had a baby. I would like to swap put the front seats for more recent seats so that the three of us can sit in the front

What seats will fit, ideally with no modification?

It rings a bell that mk 7 was the answer but I cannot find the thread

I would love to hear from anybody who has done this

mk3 pretty much bolt straight in mk4/5 you have to redrill holes and put plates underneath but they will fit the profile of the floor
mk6/7 are different - might be easier to fit onto earlier bases (not sure never done it) :D

thank you
Does installing 3 seats in place of two allow me to still use the existing seat belt stalks?

twin passenger seat has a clip in the middle like luke says mk 3 bolt right in but finding a nice set will be almost impossible

You might be abl to fi a twin mini bus seat in the front if you can find one that will sit on the bottom ribs and not to wide and they come with seat belts fitted to the seats
