Mk7 park assist not working

Postby Lpjtransitmk7 » Tue Nov 07, 2017 10:07 pm

Hi all. I have recently bought an ex British Gas transit mwb 2008 2.2 tdci 110. It has the factory parking sensors in rear step fitted. But they don’t work. The fuse is fine, I have power at the park assist module but no beep at all. Just seems dead. Should I be replacing the PAM? Any ideas or tips much appreciated.

Does it make a long beep on start up?

There is a little buzzer located near the Pam module.

Check this works first, if this is ok, it may be the module.
Get a decent code reader plugged into it first, either ids or forscan ideally.

Thanks for this. I’ll have a look and get it plugged in.

For what it's worth, my Mk7 has reversing sensors which work perfectly, but does not "beep" when starting the engine.

I don't have an audible indicator signal "tick" or a lights left on alarm either, even though I have a high spec loom. Thinking that it might be broken or been turned off via IDS, I asked Ford about it when I had the van serviced. They said that some vans don't have them.

Seems odd to me, but there you go.

The indicator tick is built into the speedo. The long beep only comes on when starting if there is a fault.

No fault, no long beep. :D the pam has its own little beeper.

Ok, thanks Punto. I thought you meant it was supposed to beep on start up, so that explains why I'm not hearing one!

Bit of an update. The little buzzer wasn’t working! I made my own tester one and have ordered a new ford one. It now does the long beep on start up so I’m going to replace sensors now. They are £55 odd from Ford, but I’ve found someone on eBay selling them for £10.99 inc delivery! Hopefully they work!

Sensors are the same as the jag xtype, I’m sure I’ve got some spares?

it may just need resetting? I know this can be done on ids/forscan :D

Thanks for the offer. I’ve ordered all new ones now off eBay. If it doesn’t work I’ll have to get it plugged in. Cheers

All sorted now. Thanks for your help. Buzzer replaced along with 4x £10.99 sensors off eBay. Works a treat now! Cheers
