swivel seats

Postby ceurieusneus » Mon Dec 04, 2017 9:00 am

Hi, help wanted...
I would like to upgrade my MK3 driver and passenger seats to swivel (rotate) 90°
Is it possible, is it possible for both sides? The ambulance is a continental model, driver position on the left
I have the idea the swivel seats would improve the acces to living part from the drivers/passenger seat
Any ideas? Where could I find the parts?

Thanks Dick :D :D :D
Would it be possible to post a picture of the system on the forum?
To the other forum members MK3 MK4 MK5, is there a significant difference between the seats of the different models??
It would be a great benefit, if I could make at least one chair to turn for my wife...
It would make her way easier in and out the living compartment (Aging problems)
I will PM you and give my e-mail
Great :D :D :D

I bought a seat swivel plate online. It was pretty expensive (£140) considering its simplicity but I suppose part of the cost was due to shipping weight. Installation was easy enough, just had to drill a couple of holes. I felt the result really wasn't worth it. To swivel the seat rearwards you have to raise the seat back to near vertical or it hits the B pillar when you try to turn it. Going the other direction you have to get out of the seat first or your legs hit the door/B pillar. I still have it among all the parts saved from my dead mk5 but can't post anything due to the stupidly expensive postage costs here.

To Aardvark,
Could you post a photo?
I could pick it up on the way to the south
All depends where you live in Britanie... St Malo isn't to bad but Brest... :(
How does it works, if you mount it on the side with the handbrake?

90° is just fine it is not supposed to swivel 180° :)

Mine looks exactly like this. http://www.vantracks.co.uk/imgsize.php?constrain=400&h=400&w=400&img=images/Products/12_0.jpg
It bolts in between the seat frame and the box that is attached to the floor. The reason I had to drill a couple of holes was because the one I bought was for a Mk6 but it was physically the same as my Mk5. I think you will still have the problem of bringing the seat back to the vertical before you can turn it to 90 degrees.
I live at Plougonver in dept. 22. About halfway between St.Malo & Brest.
