Mk6 Rally/Kayak Bus

Postby MrFish » Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:40 pm

Well it's been a while since i posted my new van so I thought I'd get in a upto date progress report,
4/5/07 got this 9 seater mk6 ex-Taxi 277k on the clock new engin 20k ago (may be needing a gear box soon I think!)
Image
looks clean has been resprayed but nice..
Image
first thing was the crappy wood look dash off..
Image
then out went the seats good job could'nt get insured for them anyway..
Image
then went on the tints Limo on sides and dark smoke on back.
Image
took all old boards out then started putting in thicker so the bed would be supported. this was when i found that the van had a new rear drivers side pannel...
Image
found some wheels on ebay what a bargin :D (NOT  ) pain in the ass finding tires that would fit yep had to get commercial rated for the load that i would never carry.. :? ...! and for the sake of 1 inch bigger wheels i had to lose 1 inch on the side walls.. cost £ too much (lesson learned  ).
Now the carpeting and the 6-9s
ImageImage
doors on both sides for hiding Junk.
ImageImage
Think i got quite good at this got the carpet from the famouse MIKE'S CARPETS anyone up north will know him only cost £30 did the roof too. Looking at painting the floor and runners too.
ImageImage
More ebay bargins this time they were. Anyone who's ever takeen seats out of a van will know that you need the right tools deeeer took me 2 attemps halfords love me good thing i have a trade card.
Near future stuff colour coded bumpers and mirror backs. Then may look into macanical stuff anyone know were i can get a recon or new 2lt engin around 100psi gear box and clutch all fitted with papers.
Anyway WHAT do ya all think..? please be nice...!
I'd Paddle it....!

seats

Postby MrFish » Sat Jun 16, 2007 6:51 pm

all the seats are on patio under a tarp a bit damp but the frames are fine if anyone want them let me know the seat cloth was'nt too clean. tar for kind words... shaun..
also full wrc ford livery would cost a bit much so on hold for now till i have anoher influx of cash would save loads with van being blue and all.
again thanks shaun :D :D

painting the new front bumper thats in my shed mirror backs and rear bumper same as van, new wrc centre caps for wheels, 8 underlighter's going inside witch are white few other bits of lighting inside, i have got 2 more rage seats for the back but my big ass will not fit in em so looking at selling them and getting the same as front putting them on box'es that will move around the van into different places still got all the runner fitments for the old seats a flip up table in back, have done the flip down bed but still looking at a way of holding it back as a few bungy straps look crap..... o almost forgot looking into how much for a newer 2 ltr tdi engin with box and clutch as mine as a few more than adverage miles on 278K for the box not too sure about the rest will be posting more.

Dont worry about straight lines mate Carpet covers a multitude of sins. side box'es are good for storage remember to mesure your speeker width with the covers an add 20mm think mine come out 200mm gives loads of room inside angles are a pain but just keep cutting you'll get it. if you need any advice just pm me :D
