yup, i know :)

as you get od 3th & 4th, you 'get' 2 extra gears, hence 6 speed 'box :D:P

6 speed is the MT82, the overdirve is just known as 4 speed overdrive, never 6 speed. calling OD 6 speed just confuses people.

ok, my mistake, its the 4speed od box.

is it the same box fitted to the 3.0 essex? if it can take the grunt of that, it should be able to manage the 24v

no no ,it wont :( ,collogne engine wont fit to a o/d box unless you can somehow make a bellhouseing, essex is difrent , and also the eseex engine was only 100ps so the box would manage that but 200ps is alot more ,it probly would manage it but dont think the overdrive unit would last long!
gearbox,s is a pain were collogne engines are concerned because ford only done the 2.9 from late 88-94 so finding a bellhouseing addaptor to go to the 5 speed mt75 is very hard, failing that you will have to fit the auto box with the 24v engine! :?

I'm looking to having an adapter plate made up for V6 to MT75 gearbox, a friend of mine makes thing sort of stuff.

I knew about the bellhousing off a essex won't fit a cologne engine, I also knew where I can get my hands on a 2.8 type 9 housing, which may fit the od box.

But if it can't really cope, I'll go for the MT conversion instead. as for the autobox, most granada's are broken up because the gearbox goes, its not strong enought either

(Truth be told, the MT75 can only just cope aswell, a few of my mates with 24v's have killed there gearboxes already! :o )

looks like the od to 24v is a non starter, I'm none to worried.

I'll just get on with the adapter plate for the MT.

Thanks for your help! :D

Great, that could be handy

Do you know off hand, is your MT box the same as a diesel?

I'm talking ratio's here, diesel boxes, I can trip over, petrol MT's are a rarer beast.

I do know where there is a petrol box, but been offer two diesel boxes for free :D
