So not much has happened over the last 3 weeks, ive got the double din dash facia fitted and my tacho wired in, it seems that the dash tach isn't accurate due to the difference in size of the jag crank pully compared to the di, so where I thought I was screeming along at 3k revs at 50ish mph im actualy doing just under 21/2k revs :D

The extra gauges are fitted and wired to the lights illumination but not to the senders so another small job to finnish.

While the dash facia was out I decided to sort my heater blower problem once and for all! The problem was that it didn't work at all, fitted a new resistor checked wiring fuses live feed and switch etc all good :? Turned out in the end it was a broken wire in the loom which was dropping the voltage as soon as a load was switched on!
Got that sorted but the next day the motor packed in so the whole dash has got to come out once again! Guess its a side effect of being sat for all those years  :x

Just the 1 pic to post

Right thought it was about time I did a little update, not much has changed with the tourneo, I've had a slimmer pair of tyres fitted to the fronts I've now got 195 55 16s in leu of the 225 55s, they seem really good and have transformed the handling/steering and the main reason they now sit inside the arch. 8)

I've also added the imrc unit from the cougar that controlled the secondry throttles at 3500rpm, it was motor/cable operated but I've converted the 12v signal to open 1 of the intake flaps on the jag manifold so now have a working throttle flap!
I've just got get round to sorting the 2nd flap/vvt by using the signal from the Rev counter I've fitted.

I recently fitted an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, I had suspected that it was over fueling due to the aftermarket pump I fitted. I only bought a cheap Chinese copy just to test my theory so didn't expect the earth but jeez  I was shocked at how much of an improvement it's made!!
It's idles much better, it drives much smoother, it's obviously better on fuel and doesn't pop/bang as much as it used to on the overrun, now I know that as soon as this Chinese reg dies I'll replace it with a good quality regulator.

Also fitted a few bulbs and just generally put some mileage on the old girl, found its absolutely useless with a slight frost on the drive and didn't even attempt to go out in the snow!
As usual a few pics

OK time for a little update as it's been over a month since the last post, not much has happened with the van, just been using her and not using her due to the snow and it being absolutely useless at the slightest sign of frost!

I have been experimenting with small mods in between, I've fitted new lambda sensors and experimented with converting it back to running on "cops" (coil on plugs) I made a loom up so I could just plug into the existing loom but it didn't quite work as I expected, I did manage to get it running on the cops and my theory did work I just don't think the signal/power supplied by my ecu was enough to fire 2x cops on a wasted spark firing sequence as when it was In the jag the cops were fired independently.
I ended up going back to the coilpack and leads but I think I may have damaged a lead as I now have a bad misfire under load :( so a new set of custom length ht leads and a set of plugs are the order of the day for fitting tomorrow.

I've also cleaned/painted a spare set of springs up ready for fitting when I get round to fitting new discs/pads too 8)
Got my oil pressure gauge wired/plumed in so that now works.
Tinted my rear lights and rearmost windows and made a bracket to mount the ....... erherm.....corsa header tank! (it just happens to be the perfect size to fit where I want)
Anyway as usual a few pics :D

Evening, thought it was time for a small update.

I've been having running issues ever since I messed with the coils and custom loom, I've had a miss fire that j just couldn't pin down, I was almost adamant in telling myself it wasn't spark plugs and with this I ended up changing the tps, airflow meter, and a combination of new/old plug leads as everytime I've had the inlet off the plugs looked in good condition.
Many hours of googling and the general common fault was coming back and pointing towards plugs :(
At first glance a set of plugs was looking at nearly £76  (£11 each) but after a bit of shopping around I got them for £28, fitted on Tuesday found a plug had cracked in half and now she runs and drives near on perfect, just a slight hesitation on part throttle that I need to iron out :D
I've also gotten round to fitting the new lower front springs, new discs/pads and I've also refurbished a spare set of callipers. The discs are the bigger 270mm from the 6stud smileys so makes for a nice factory upgrade.
I've also finished tinting the rest of the sliding windows too 8)
I've also picked up a tailgate from a mate at the squires fordmeet for the trailer project as I needed just the glass and top hinges, the tailgate is I real poor condition but is good enough for me to chop/mock up a lot of the opening front end :D
As usual a load of pics 8)

Thanks matey, it should hopefully be in a towable/usable state for mania next year, could've maybe pushed and had it towable for this year but with the small issues I've been having with the van it's got put to the bottom of the list :(

I'll update the trailer thread when I start again

So I was all set for going to a mini transit meet near me today, fired the van up and could smell petrol really bad! :(

Turns out an injector seal decided it didn't want to play anymore and spat the dummy out..........
Let's just say mine came out as well!

All the work I've done recently and it just seems never ending but I have a set of spares from.the other engine so shouldn't be long till its back up and running
