Parking sensors

Postby Alma » Fri Nov 16, 2018 9:07 pm

Hi, my first post on here. I have just bought a 2014 transit custom limited. My only issue with it is that the parking sensors are not working. When I put it in reverse I get no sound and the symbol on the screen is the graphic of the van with an exclamation mark to the front and back. I also get that same picture on my screen when I press the parking sensor button. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi
Mine does the same occasionally, It will work fine for a while then for some reason it doesn't. I have had a quick look at the wires going to the sensors but not found anything obvious, but as it's an intermittent fault I'm guessing its a broken connection somewhere. I have noticed though whether it a coincidence or not it works when its raining or I have just washed it.

Yep that’s the symbol I get. I have no idea what to do next. Is there anything I can do or is it a job for the garage?

Depends how handy you are I guess. I'm going to investigate this week and see if I can fix it myself. Like I say if it's just a bad connection somewhere it should be quite easy. I'll keep you posted how I go on.

Typical, ever since my last post they have worked every time so haven't tried to find the problem. Did you find what was causing yours not to work?

Just to let you know that it was 1 sensor that had gone so apparently knocks all the others out. Changed that 1 sensor and all is good now with all of them. £40 for new sensor and £40 labour, Job done.

Cheers for letting me know. I guess I must have one on its way out then. Next time mine decides not to work I'll see if I can find it :? .
