Locked out

Postby CarworldHQ » Thu Dec 06, 2018 2:17 pm

Hi and thank you for reading. I still have my MK6 2002 transit. I lock and unlock it by using the remote control. Today I went out to unlock it so I could prepare it for its MOT which is due. When pressing the button on the remote fob nothing happened. The kety lock have never worked so I could not undo the door manually. Assumiing the battery may be flat in the fob I replaced it with a new one. Still no joy. The transit is a flat bed recovery truck. At the back of the cab there is a vent about waist height. by removing this and manoeuvring a long wire I was able to hook the door handle and pull it back. Unfortunately the door still did not open. I assume this is because the deadlock is operated. if I were to drill the door lock out, would i be able to operate the deadlocks then? I would welcome any help to resolve this issue.
Kind regards

Tony

Update.
Managed to wind the window down and gained entry via this. Starts up ok but still unable to release deadlock. As it will get dark soon I will attempt to remove the door card tomorrow and see if I can release the mechanism this way. If there is an easier way please let me know. In the mean time going to order a new manual lock.

Kind regrads

Have you checked the two fuses, taped to the loom, under the steering column? Those are the central locking fuses.

Hi you can short out the two wires that go to the door lock by removing the wing mirror and hooking, pulling the wires through the hole, shorting them and hey presto, no more dead locked door
