I just had new rear brake pads fitted by ford on my transit l4 and on the ride home I had a intermitant noise that sounded like metal rubbing against metal,it was made worse by the van being empty and the noise echoing in the back, I took the van back to ford who checked and tested the rear brakes for hours while I waited, taking the pads out, testing the calipers etc but couldn't find out what the noise was as it wouldn't do it on the ramps or in the workshop but would do it as soon as it went on test drive, the brakes worked perfect, in the end they fitted another new set of pads and no more noise, looking at the other pads they were fine and ford were baffled as to why they were making the noise
