Fuel line issue

Postby tjmarine » Sun Feb 10, 2019 6:12 pm

Hi all and apologies if this has been covered

I’ve had to bleed my fuel line by removing the right (as you look backwards) aft hose from the filter assembly and fitting a pruning pump.

How in the world do you refit the pipe. I’ve tried warming it with a heat gun burnt won’t gonove the ridges on the filter fitting.

Please help I need my van tomorrow.

Mk7

You shouldn't need to bleed a Mk7, they're self bleeding. Normally we just fill the new filter with fuel before fitting and you should be good to go.

The hose fittings are just push-on jobbies, maybe the O-ring inside the fitting has dislodged or summink...??

It's the PRUNES that's causing problem

I'd like to see this "pruning pump too" would indeed be interesting.

Wonder if the OP has pulled the line off the connector itself rather than the connector off the filter head stub?

If it's off the fitting then it might be a bit short now if it's been cut, otherwise a cup of boiling water will soften it though it might fail to seal properly now.

Go get an elbow complete with a 6" length of pipe cut off a scrapper then get a straight connector from a motor factors agricultural dealer (If there's any around) or Halfords and cut your old pipe to join in the new bit

I'm guessing he's fitted a new "empty" fuel filter and tried to start it....usually doesn't end well.
