New engine, Any advice or Help please!!!

Postby Plectrum81 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:16 pm

I am calling for any help, I have a Transit 2014 L3H3 2.2 125hp, the van had an engine change at 98,000 under warranty at Ford in Hemel Hempsted 16 months ago, since the engine change I took the van back twice for a diesel knock that I was not happy about and kept getting told they couldn’t find anything wrong, 2 weeks ago the van went in to Limp Mode so I gave the van back to ford, to which they have now informed me that the van needs a new engine AGAIN!! Due to injector failure, seeing as they never replaced the injectors with the previous engine the first time around it was down to me, I find this very hard to swallow having seen now that these vans have this as a not so uncommon problem. Did ford not recall this issue? Has anyone else had a problem similar to this and what did they do? Ford want to replace the engine and injectors for the sum of £8,000 the new engine has only covered 16,500 miles. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and just wondered if I’m alone

Hi
how do injectors write off an engine? Something smells....
I'd get it towed elsewhere for a second opinion due to the sums involved

Apparently they over fuelled and damage the pistons

Did they really use the injectors from the old engine for your new replacement engine?

U should definitly go to some engine/diesel specialists/rebuilders to get a second opninion. As long as theres no hole in the block, they're usually able to save the engine with replacing only certain parts :)

And there are lots of 2.2 engines on the market. imho u should be able to get the engine replaced for not more than 3 to 4k.

cheers chris :)

Thank you Chris, I have looked at other options as a backup, I am Currently going through the motions with Ford complaints departement, they never replaced the injectors with the first engine, I am currently waiting for the CEO to get back to me who has been in close contact with me this far but has been out of office for a few days

Mine had engine at 47000 miles due to holed piston and that one did not get injectors just reprogrammed by Ford.
In my case if it goes again it will be well out of warranty so they will have saved money on not replacing them.

Its disgusting, I had brought the van back umpteen times for a diesel knock and they found nothing, to be honest when I dropped the van in this time it had only hopped in to limp mode I actually didn't think it was a major until the dreaded phone call, there has been a string of events that have not made me happy that ford had done everything to prevent this from happening, from when the engine went in to the aftercare up tip now. I got fobbed off everytime I went in.
