Drop fuel tank guide?

Postby Kalidor » Fri Apr 05, 2019 7:42 pm

Hi there,

I have a mk8 diesel lwb transit. I need to drop the tank to do some welding and feed a fuel pipe into the sender unit for a diesel heater.

I dont need to take it fully away jusr enough to get access to sender and to get away from heat from welds (inside on van floor).

Is there any guides on this, tried a seach but didn’t see anything?

Thanks
Kalidor

Look in the custom section but when I did mine all I did was run it low on fuel I did it on a ramp so put the ramp Jack underneath it with a bored between it and tank and jack surported the tank and removed the straps slowly lowering the tank I did not disconnect any pipe work with the filler pipe on it came down at a slight angle as soon as I could get my hand above the tank I uncliped the fuel pipes and wiring off the chassis clips and then lowered it down so I could cut the very top of the nipple off cleaned up the burrs pushed the stand pipe in and then clipped fitting onto it I used the Eberspacher tank kit
The guy in the custom section did it on his back with a trolley jack he has put some photos on his post top man

Similar for me, I didn't do anything with the jack though just undo the strap as much as I could and with it as empty as possible. (transit custom)

I've had a look and did a search in the Custom board for things like 'diesel heater', 'eberspacher' and 'diesel tank', unfortunantly I cant see the one reference with pictures. Anyone know the OP's name or the title of the post (or better, has a link?)

Cheers.

So got it dropped, no real issues, so looking at sender unit, do I need to open it or think im good to just cut off the top of that aux port (dont know the name for it) and just feed through the fuel tube?

Just cut the end of the Nope off with a Stanley knife, look at the instructions I posted for the measurement, then you push the tube in until it stops at the bung and then you just clip the connector on.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm about to fit a Chinese diesel heater in my 2015transit custom. Does anyone know if the ebespacher tube kit above is compatible? Or if anyone else has fitted a Chinese heater how did they pick the fuel up?

Thanks

Just replace my eberspacer with a plannair and it’s on the ebespacher tank pipe it’s a like for like swoop I used all the old gear except the pump/ heater/ control box the only difference was the ducting pipe needed to be a inch longer as there is a slight difference in the heater caseing .

The tube kit fits to the pipe and lift pump which is the same anyway so yes.
