general question about seats

Postby stuartrobbie » Wed Jul 04, 2007 8:55 pm

ive just been offered a swap, my bench seat for a single passengers captains seat (same style and material)

they guy says the single seat is often an extra option and it will come with safe box.

i usually only have 1 passenger, occasionally 2 so just wondered what the general thought is, are 2 seats better than 3.

for those who have converted was it worth the time?

i know its probably down to preference but it doesnt bother me either way, id like single seats but dont think its practical

for me 3 seats is a must :D ive love to be able to have 2 seats cos ive got a pair of scorpio heated leather seats that would fit in well 8) but i need the 3 seats up front :(

i dunno which would be the most valuable as a van i'd guess 3 as its more usefull, but then again 2 is rarer

Suppose the advantage of a single seat is it'll be more comfy for the passenger as they'll be able to wind it back. But you do lose out on a lot of "strorage" space, my double seat is usually the home to food/drink/maps/paperwork/etc etc
Also if you don't have a bulkhead, it'll be easier to access the rear with the single (good and bad)

Tough choice :!:

i know what you mean about the storage.

i know its a silly question just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were.
i was thinking about the rarer bit cause even though my van isnt the most customised, it has legendery status within my workplace so 2 seats is seen as yet another customisation, if you know what i mean.

its going down to the flip of a coin.

Personally, although its useful to carry two passengers. Its bloody tight on space. I sat as a passenger in a transit the other day with my brother in law, and its very close. I've sat in the middle in the works Toyota Hiace and you get very friendly with the driver every time he changes gear. If you don't need the extra cramped seat then get rid, be far more comfortable for the passenger.
The single with a safe box, Aren't these fitted to mk6 transits? If so, would it fit a Mk5?
Current Transit: Mk8 tourneo Sport with go faster stripes.

Long time sold: Mk5 LWB 190, 2.5di banana SHR, 3 seats, SLD, Twin rear doors (rusted bottoms), manual locking & windows.

Suppose you just have to think how often you carry 2 passengers?
Even though I've got the double seat I try to avoid at all costs having someone sat in the middle, it's uncomfy for everyone and you practically have to sexually assault them just to change gear

On a rare occasion where I've needed to move more than 2 people I've stuck them in the back, out on these country roads just tell them to keep their heads down and you're fine :P
Once had about 6 lads in the back, driving through to the next village
