Top of 2.4 diesel engine

Postby Paulscarbs » Wed May 15, 2019 7:42 am

Hi, newby here.
I have just bought a 2009 Transit and note that the top of the engine seems like it is missing a cover. Please could somebody advise? It's the circular area at the top of the engine.

I'm experiencing some stalling and note I may need to get the prv and SCV looked at. Would this be a good place to start?

It’s the mechanics cup holder

No, it’s really the recess for the centrifugal oil filter that’s only fitted to certain higher powered engines.
So, it’s not missing anything.

Thanks for reply - and humour.

I need to dig into the bay and assess the situation more fully. I know one rubber pipe on the right has a split and spits oil out. Need to locate the part and replace. Just don't know what to request yet though. Been looking for detailed engine schematics without much joy yet. Any on here somewhere?

That's a very useful website. Thanks. I now have the details: Transit 2006-2014, Duratorq TDCI 2.4 (100PS).

If you register with Etis you can access the full details of your van, build date, engine spec and what extras it came out the factory with
