Postby Mr_JDM » Thu May 16, 2019 1:08 am

Hi! Did anyone change the transmissions fluid?
I try to allocate the correct positions of the drain plug and refill.( im a noob)
Please give me some tips of how to to get this done. Can't find any info on internet.
Not sure attached photos are correct positions (red marked and number 16) ?
Thanks

#6 is the drain plug.

Whoa !
They are 2 different fluids,
The gearbox oil is same as a standard manual gearbox,
But the filler / level plug is hidden behind the hydraulic clutch pack.

The filler under the bonnet is for said hydraulic fluid (use only the proper ford ASM fluid.)

I got the gear auto check engine light flash on the cluster. I believe this is for the ASM and i already filled up the ASM fluid but the light still flashing.
What's the possibility problem and where to check.
Thanks

If you've used the correct fluid and the level is correct, there's not much else you can now do without diagnostic equipment.
Needs codes reading, and then clearing to see what comes back or are current faults.
Main issue with ASM is usually pressure related or pump failing,
You should be able to hear pump run when you open the drivers door.
Also be sure bonnet hinges aren't seized or stiff, there is a switch on the hinges that will affect ASM operation.

It's nearly five years since your post on Durashift transmission fluid drainage and top up but worth a try to ask you If you can still remember the specification of the transmission fluid.
I have a Auto Sleeper Duetto with a 2006 transit ASM. I had trouble a week ago familiar to many posts on this problem, ie, engine would not start then would only start with tick over but no gear select or revs. Then all of a sudden it cleared its self and all systems working.
Managed to get a Ford Diagnostic check which showed,
1" low hydraulic oil level and
2" short clutch piston travel.
Now all faults have been cleared but I cannot find the correct hydraulic oil specification to top up.
I have tried local Ford dealers and searched on line without success.
I have found Shell Spirex S6AFTX and Castrol 75W 90 but not sure these are correct.
Any help will be much appreciated

He hasn't been back here since Jan of 2021, so your question will probably fall on deaf ears.

The ASM uses two oils, one for the gearbox itself and another for the hydraulic acuation system.
