silly question about changing gear

i know that you need to push the gear stick down to select reverse , but do i need to push it down when changing between other gears? silly question i know , but just curious

mk5 flareside with tail-lift GONE and will be missed!

Mk6 T350 LWB DRW dropside with tail-lift.

With a 5-speed you can shift like normal and with a 6-speed you need to push or pull to get into reverse. (at least with the Mk7)

I believe snatch has a 2001 Mk6.

I have to push down to select reverse on my van but on my works van i don't :roll: is it somthing to do with fwd and rwd :?: or even the year of production :?:

Is one FWD and the other RWD? Are they both Mk6's?

pre 2004 front wheel drives needed the lever pressing down in order to get past the reverse block

post 2004 the design was changed and the press down was deleted.

rear wheel drive has never needed the reverse block on either 5 or 6 speed.

Well I have a 2000 FWD and I don't have to press the gear stick down :P

I'll add my bit...

I do have to push down on my 2001 Tourneo but recently had a 2006 Tourneo on hire that I didnt have to push down.

I reckon the man in-charge of gearboxes at Fords just chops and changes depending on the mood he is in :D
