Injector failure destroys engine

Hi, I have owned a 2010 T350 MK6 motorhome from new. It has covered 21000 miles since then. Recently we had an injector failure and had the van recovered to our Ford dealer. They have reported that cylinder no.1 had no compression and the probable cause was that the no.1 injector had stuck open causing major damage to the piston.
They advised that I need a new engine at over £6000. They also said that this is a common occurrence. Has anyone else had this issue before?

Not an everyday occurrence but it is all too common, yes. You got unlucky there, really. I've a van here that's done 162,000 miles on its original injectors, but that has had daily use.

If all it's done is crack or melt that one piston though, I'd be getting the engine repaired at that mileage.

Rebuilt exchange engines are about £1000 and secondhand engines much less. That £6000 must be for a brand new unit from Ford? You really don't need to spend that much.

A brand new Euro 4 engine can be bought for about £ 1500 it comes with sump an head rocker cover fitted no injectors no turbo no ancillaries Ford are blowing out their stock
I rebuilt a unit three weeks ago put about £700 worth of parts in it that was new pistons set bearings etc,not the sort of money your being quoted
Where are you at there's a couple of forum members on here could do you a rebuild for good money try Karl

A 2010 will be a Mk7.....I'd call it bloody unlucky. Have 150k km on my Mk7 2.4 140.....same injectors, no issues at all.
