First, thanks for all the information already posted on the forum, it helped me a lot already to keep my smiley face 2.5 di motorhome up and running!
But i have noise from the engine bay which i don't know how to solve, so it was time to finally create an account and post something.
During a holiday trip in Italy, i heard anothe smiley face with the same noise.
Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpaVaes ... e=youtu.be
( is the video link working? )
what is already done:
Removed the aux-belt: no noise at all.
high-idle: no noise. (only normal engine noise

Alternator rebuild (new bearings), and new vacuum pump: no change, still a lot of "rattle and rumble" . (could it be the wrong combination of vacuum pomp and alternator?)
Visco: No play at all, feels as new.
Visco-pulley-hub on the oil-pump-cover: bearing is not silent, needs replacement in the long term, but not "critical" yet. But could this make such a noise?
Is anyone familiar with changing the visco-hub-pulley-bearing? I think this is the part, but i can't find a how-to or information in the haynes:https://www.ebay.nl/itm/323261355963
Do i need to remove the timing belt, oil pump cover and use a press to replace the bearing?
Thanks!
