Roof Rack Bolt Seals

Can anybody shed any light on the roof rack mounting hole plugs that are on my transit custom.

Im looking at trying to seal them up properly, the ones ive seen on other vans are a 32mm ish allen key bolt, with a rubber washer.

Cant seem to find a part number anywhere, local dealers were not much help either.

Ive looked on the Ford 7 zap Parts but cant seem to find them.

Yes I can help.... I dropped in my local transit centre and Ford have the 12 bolts and sealing washers but they are a special order and they are £80 !!!

You can go to any hardware store and get m8 threaded bolts and suitable rubber washers for a tenner or do as I did and put the 80 quid towards a roof rack or styling bars that will come with the fixings.

I went for aluminium black bars from van style and they came with 2 tubes of EPDM sealant.


They leaked on my 65 plate custom so I had to get something in the holes and sealed before this one started doing the same.

If you want the actual Ford parts though, ring a Transit centre and they will get them sent directly to you by post.

Bloody Hell 80quid for six small bolts

Think Ive kept my bolts after fitting roof bars may chuck them on eBay.

Yes they are ridiculous ... there are 12 0f them but even so! I spent the 80 quid on some nice black roof rails instead.

And for 80 quid , they rust like hell ... began to rust from the first month...
