Drive shaft nut if it needs to be removed, I took the whole strut and hub off to change the spring.

Have you sorted it now? I'm planning on changing my broken spring tomorrow (yes I know it's been nearly a month since I broke it  ) but I won't lie I'm lazy when I'm not working   I have fitted the spring to the shock though :D

Quick update
Got two new springs and shocks fitted, track rod ends also replaced as bent
Total bill was enough to drown a cat, but it’s done and safe now, mechanic received the same springs I did first time round, but got them in end...
Drivers side was almost ready to snap too
Point to note, they are a blunt to fit back in the top...

Mechanic did point out I need the section that the engine mounts bolts too, I remember seeing it somewhere as a complete section if anyone can put some pointers up
And well done Ned, we both are on the same field this week

Feels good doesn't it now driving a silky smooth quiet van again :D

Do you mean getting the 3 bolts lined up with the wee holes at the top of the strut tower? That is fiddly but the hardest part as you found out is getting to the nuts behind the dash on the passenger side.

That’s why I paid someone else to fit it while I had a brew and watched and said damn, that looks fiddly lol
