Forscan help please

Postby Mankeydeath39 » Sun Jan 19, 2020 4:31 pm

Hi i hope someone can help, i have changed PRV and SCV and started to do a pump learn using forscan, the learn completed so i then tried fuel learn which failed twice i have reset a counter and cant remember which one but the van will not start now  it turns over and splutters a few times then just carries on turning.
Its either the fuel prv open count learned value, or the fuel prv open duration learned value.
i have the DTCs for the fuel pump and fuel injector pilot correction learn
problem being i cant start it to do the learns! can anybody help please

Put the old valves back on mate and see if it runs.

Doing learns on good quality valves is only to fine tune the engine, it is needed yes but you should still have an engine that starts and runs fine.

What has happened to you is probably due to air getting in, usually a cheap prv.

What Loot said......Were the valves genuine Denso/Ford items..??

I will give that a go, just strange how she started first time round, prv and scv from transit parts so thought would be ok! Where's best place for these does anyone know?
She just gets to start then chucks out smoke and turns over does this sound right for bad prv?
Thanks again for tips

I've had it before but it was a bit bad to start. If you swap the valves back and it runs then I would suspect the prv.

I bought my valves from Ford but they're not cheap, you can get genuine ones from denso too.

I've just ordered mine from PF JONES because I bought some off ebay recently that are apparently genuine but my van still runs a bit rough at idle ,does seem to be intermittent but annoying so hopefully these are better

hi folks
so i feel like a proper dingbat! found out that it wouldnt start and checked for the run off from PRV and got nothing at all, dry as a bone so i went back to basics and checked fuel filter----- it was empty so i filled it replaced and tried again and it tried to start but then stopped anyway to cut long story short the fuel filter was letting in air! this is why it wouldnt start back up   so i went to ford and got a new air filter and low and behold she started on about the 3rd attempt, just got to carry out the learns now so fingers crossed they should go through this time. we will see   thanks for those who tried to help me appreciate the support available on here

Just clarify you say air filter, don't you mean fuel filter? Anyway hope it gets sorted. I actually forgot to fit the prv black return pipe once  sh*t happens :P

Hi sorry yes fuel not air doh! Anyway the saga continues, I did the pump learn tonight and it went through no problems, went on to do fuel learn and it failed and came up with 'error 83 cylinder imbalance etc' so I cleared off the dtc for pump learn and decided to try fuel pressure learn and nothing! Wouldn't start at all! Turns like a monster but won't start wtf! Anyone got any further suggestions, I did notice there was no pressure on the rail when it was turning does this mean prv is blown? Or is scv knackered both are new so really fed up ATM, any help is massively appreciated as I'm now bashing my head against the wall

Have you done an injector "leak off" test in the past..? It'll fail the learns if they aren't healthy.
