I hear you Neil. If I was looking to sell the thing I’d probably keep it original like you say. Plan to use it though and the Perkins may be cute but it’s underpowered. Also it left the factory as an automatic and got converted to manual so the originality has worn a bit thin already The old guy did it because his family would have to get out on hills to save weight and help push it up. That’s dismal living It’s an old Devon hillbilly wagon

Engine moving back is probably a good thing for weight distribution, almost mid engined The designers kept it forward for easy “cross cab” movement, for delivery drivers to exit pavement side I suppose. Not a concern for most of us these days.
I don’t want to chop up my own bulkhead as it’s the best panel on the vehicle, that compost maker under the vent slots is perfect thanks to the old guy glueing Perspex over the slots.
I’ll go check out your AA van, sounds cool. Mine started out yellow too but not AA, more like Mothers Pride bakery

V6 eh? Hadn’t really thought about that, it’d sound groovy and go like stink but omg it’d be like 6 miles per gallon on a run I had a V6 Ford 100E when I was young, insane acceleration but so thiiiirsty...
be fun though... Would DVLA accept it as a typical period mod, like they do for a 1275 in a Morris Minor? Hmmmm

Sliding door on driver side, hinged other side BUT everything behind the A posts and windscreen is coachbuilt. Box body bakery van ugly as fook. Probably bought as “chassis scuttle” for the coachbuilders to do their thing with. Its a proper pickup chassis though so I plan to make it a normal pickup cab, maybe with tipper. If you are curious to see the curious bodywork, what’s the best way to upload pics? Most seem blurred out with Photobucket across them.

Most 3rd party picture hosting sites, including photobucket, seem to want to charge for hosting photos now, so they're better being hosted here

Now auto diesel is becoming clearer, stop start deliver, they probably post dated the bread haha, there cant be many or any others of those left be cool to see the pics, i use my phone to upload photos do you have a phone that takes pictures

Yes almost certainly the last survivor of a fleet of 40 such transits, all built locally at the Hill, Palmer & Edwards bakery in Exwick. V5 still says ‘yellow and red’ the Mothers Pride colours. I’ll attach a pic of a slightly earlier van fleet with Bedford CA
