This is off topic and I would suggest you post in the correct thread.

You have checked your BCM is the correct high spec version? The code suggests you have the low spec version.

See Loots 'How To' on retro fitting cruise.

Found out what the issue was.

Whilst enabling CC I also adjusted a couple of other things (I know, one at a time is best). I had adjusted the speed limiter from 70mph which caused the BCU to throw up an unrelated error.

I restored the speed setting, reset the codes and hey presto!

Unsure whether I needed to reset the steering alignment but did that anyway (steering feels slightly different now - should it?)

What I have learnt:
It’s best to obtain a relevant steering wheel (and airbag) as the connections are simply plug and play. I won’t go into detail here as there are many other threads on this.
Disconnect the battery/batteries and wait half an hour before airbag removal.
Learn how to pry the metal spring in order to release the airbag before attempting the task.
Ensure you have a 24mm socket to release the steering wheel.
Learn how to enable Cruise Control (CC) before undertaking the procedure. I used Forscan (fully enabled) and a suitable OBDII adapter which worked well.
Make a backup of all systems before undertaking any adjustments.
Adjust only one item at a time if wishing to adjust more than just the CC. WARNING, adjusting some vehicle settings may render the vehicle inoperative.
CC will only work above a particular speed and only when switched on AND set. The green CC light will illuminate when ignition is switched on if it is enabled correctly though.

Did a thorough test today.

Seems Cruise Control doesn’t work in 5th gear! 3rd and 4th is fine though.

Any bright ideas why this is happening?

Quite. I thought perhaps the vehicle axel ratio needed to confirm to the BCU ratio (I’ve had my axel swapped)? Can’t see how this would affect it though.

Any ideas?

Hi, swapping the steering wheel on your Mk7 Transit is definitely doable, and a lot of people go with other Ford wheels that are a direct fit or require only minor changes. Popular choices include wheels from the Mondeo or Focus, especially ones with a nicer grip or built-in controls. Just make sure the airbag and steering column connections are compatible. If your van has a mechanical steering system and no advanced electronics like steering assist, it’s usually an easier swap, but always double-check fitment and safety features before making the change.
