Vibration during acceleration

Postby Doughamm » Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:27 pm

Hi all you Transit owners!
I have a 2015 Transit 250 that was a Uhaul van that I bought with 11,000 miles on it. It now has 43,000 miles on it. I’m on my 3rd set of brakes and 2nd rotors.
This time my problem is that I get a horrible vibration between 25 & 35 mph only when accelerating especially going up hills. Before and after these speeds there is no vibration. Slowing down and coasting it does not vibrate at these speeds.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking.

Is it front wheel drive, or RWD :?:

Vibration on acceleration is commonly a driveshaft problem :)

Well it turns out that the replaced flexible coupling failed, and one of the bolts holding it on sheared off thus causing the vibration. I was not aware of the 2nd recall on the flexible coupling. Ford is replacing them with a real universal joint attached to a new section of driveshaft. I’m very happy I don’t have to pay for it. I only have to wait for the parts to arrive at the dealer (said it could be up to a week) so there it sits. If anyone else is unaware of this recall you should check into it. It is a dangerous situation.
