Postby johnny1145 » Sat Jul 04, 2020 10:45 pm

Hi all looking about building a rat rod style pick up on a mk7 panel with a mk6 front..
Is there a way off doing this with a swb..
All chassis cabs are to long for the look I'm after....any help or advice welcome

So are you wanting a short wheelbase pickup truck then.

I have a crew cab mk6 and I have been thinking about shorting the the wheelbase, you can move the leaf spring hangers forward on the chassis or have the chassis rails cut and shortened with a shorter prop.

Thats how i am thinking of doing it but not for some time.

There is also another mk6 that has move the leaf springs to make his truck a short wheelbase. He then used a flair side body on the backImage

The chassis cab would be the better option as its sealed and strong compared to altering a van

The crew cab looks the part..think chassis cab the way to go shorten the chassis..thinking doing it on a mk7 but putting the mk6 front end to give it an older look..think the swb the way to go...maybe less work with a chassis cab cheersImageImageImageImage

From the photos so far, it looks like the challenge is to build one that doesn’t look like a broken piece of crap.
