Dash Power socket question

Postby Knobby2515 » Mon Jul 20, 2020 10:27 pm

Am a new owner

On the left side of the dash under the passenger side top dash "flap" there is a power socket with a cover over it.
Can I just remove that cover and there will be a power socket or can I remove that a fit a power socket?
Would I also need the wiring or would it be there in the dash loom?

Thanks

Aux in for radio?
So behind the blanking plug, there is wiring for the radio?

What is to stop me putting in a cigar lighter socket?

Am also thinking if I got a loom from a left-hand drive vehicle then could do it that way?

Wiring for the "Aux-In" may or may not be there :(

Nothing really, and you could piggy back into the wiring for the dash power socket

Not sure that you would have a place to plug the loom into :)

You will either have an aux input for your stereo, or like me you will have a blank cover. I have retro fitted a powered USB socket which comes on and off with ignition so I can charge my phone when I'm in the van but the socket is off when the ignition is off. Here are some details of what I fitted:

Here are some details of how I wired it in. It runs off the supply for the dashcam which had a spare USB socket. Hope it makes sense.
