Bought this. Thought it would be rude not to.

Anyone know what year / diffs will go in this early Mk 1 casing please?

It's still got the near useless 5.88 diff in it.

I have a Mk5 4.63 twin wheel axle but it's 4 1/2" wider. . .

I changed the pinon and crown wheel on my single wheel mk2 5.14, too 456 or 463 from a mk5 diff, mine was front loader, yours being a rear loader, i think & im not 100% sure, but i think if it looks the same you should be able, too fit pinion & crown wheel, from the mk5, others will know more

Have a look at this post from Ken B.

Longest ratio is a 4.63 in the twin wheel axle.

The stud pattern for the wheels is also different, and damper mountings etc.

Anyway.... the CW&P should go in to your mk1 axle - but im pretty sure the pinion flange will have a different spline so see if you can either use the mk5 pinion flange with your propshaft, or see if you can redrill the flange to suit

I fitted the complete Mk5 Axle to mine and no issues that a grinder and welder could not fix

Presumably you used the mk5 wheels too?
