Oh and also, my gearbox is ally and has a flange coupling to connect to the prop leading me to believe its a mt75 correct?

correct - best box to have

Good so i was right when i stood there and told said vegetable it was an mt75 and he insisted it wasnt as i didnt have to lift a lever under the gear knob to get it into reverse

i asked him how practicle a lever would be on a two foot gearsick with a dog leg and he just shrugged and told me it coulnt be a my75!!!!!!!

I think i might buy him an electric wheelchair and dribble bib for xmas

Cleaned, painted new belts, bearings and seals as required now just waiting on that cranl seal to rebuild

Bugger! That's the problem when you start working, finding stuff like that. Still got to be done, and you might as well find out now as at the MOT.

Right as i am waiting on materials for the chassis repairs i though i would offer up the motor for a 'dry fit'
Seems to fit ok and nothing seems to be playing me up...............yet but any hints and tips before i remove again to tidy the engine bay and cut out the floor around the gearbox???????

Right a little update, the motor is in and running! but the airbox wont fit now so might have to graft on a k&n from the pinto
So the return to the tank is done with no probs and it starts, charges and all lights on dash go out etc
throttle is on, clutch and speedo still to do, temp hole in floor for gearstick, (think i buggered up somewhere when cutting mk4 floor out) prop is being lengthend as i speak so just got to mod the rear mounts for it to be properly bolted in
cant think what else i have done but been flat out every chance i get, oh old crossmember out and new one ready to weld in

Its the round 'sit on top' style and fouls on the bulkhead
if i had the later style that lives down the side it wouldnt be a problem i guess?

well done mate - teld you it was easy
i once had 3 mk1s all Di'd and parked next to each other and each one was in a different postion - my bus wouldnt fit the mk4 air box on so i used the early steel one with the back edge slightly battered in

that's the stule that is fitted to the original, we have two facoty Mk2 DIs, not the original engines any more but the air filters must have been reansferred on to the engines.

Oh do you think 16 gauge is a little thick to make a new front panel with?
Just got a big offcut from making the x-member and on a budget!

You can't go too thick for cross members and chassis!

Yeah thats why i am using 16 gauge for the x-member but its the front pannel that holds the headlights etc that i am on about now as its been cut out by some monkey so i have nothing to mount the lights, rad etc too
