I'm going to try and find out what size the MSRT runs and settle it

If you find out let us know as I'd be interested. I recently bought 20" Wolfrace GTR's and was recommended to purchase 275/40 tyres. Good points: Loads of choice, correct load rating, plenty profile so don't need to worry about kerbing. Bad points: had to remove front mudflaps as they rubbed at lock, very occasionally on bouncy roads they will catch the arch, I'm not overly keen on the increased ride height.

I'm pretty disappointed as I had done plenty research and asked questions. I was advised that 275/40 went onto every set of 20" custom wheels.

I think you want 235 to 255 from what I've learned on here.

Is it not just the width that is making them rub ?

When you say plenty of profile dont you mean plenty of width so they stick out past the rim giving more security against kerbing than a 245 say ? The 40 profile isn"t plent IMO although better than 35. $5 profile would be great but I dont think they fit, be nice to try a 245/45/20.

I may just go with different 18's when mine comes as I'm lowering is anyway and Jackanson (BOB) says his looks good and he had 20 MSRT OZ wheels on his.

Hi

Possibly it could be the width. It's difficult to tell as obviously I can't see it when it's happening.

No I mean the profile of the tyre is sufficient to offer protection against kerbing and potholes rather than referring to the width. As you say 45 profile would be even better. Can anyone confirm 245/45/20 fit without catching?

I think I've learned that the 45 profile may through the speedo out buy an unacceptable level, I don't know what the 'unacceptable level' is a law or for MOT purposes etc, I'm no expert, I'm just going of my interpretation from what I've read.

Haven't found out what size the MSRT runs when on 20's yet !

MSRT Custom runs on Michelin Pilot Sport 245/40/ZR 20 Extra load 99Y

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/modifi ... ou-can-buy

If you enlarge the image and zoom with the camera on your phone you can see there 99Y, which are under the required load rating

Some good investigation there! I've just bought a set of 245/40/20 with 103 XL load rating so fingers crossed they fit with no rubbing

Damn wish I'd seen them! I ordered Nankangs with 103 load rating. Worked out at £109 inc delivery. 101 = 825kg & 103 = 875kg.

Just noticed these are 255/40 rather than 245/40 so that's why I didn't spot them. 255/40 have a diameter of 8mm less than the 275/40 I had problems with. 245/40 diameter is 12mm less.

245/40 R20 is what Chasedotnet recommended for me...

I hit a massive pot hole at the weekend which resulted in a damaged wheel and a tyre with an egg bubble in the side....

The tyres fitted had a 99 XL rating so just bought another one exactly the same....I have been driving around for a year with 99XL with no problems until now.

How do you know what the correct load rating is?

Is it as simple as multiplying the load rating kg by four....

So a 99 XL wold be 775 x 4 in terms of max load?
