Back at it and finally starting to make the inside look less murdery. Wire brushed, rust converter and hammerite white all over. It was covered in scratches and little rust bubbles from condensation so I’d rather not have anymore of that once there’s insulation in there.

It can never be sold. At the very least it will have to stay in my immediate family  Hoping it’ll make it to an episode of Car SOS in 2045. That or I’ll drive it into the sea in frustration.

Wire brushed, rust converter on, zinc primer and silver hammerite (my standard method). Tomorrow it gets sicaflex and a boarded floor.

There’s just something so satisfying about a bit of Sikaflex on a Sunday morning. First time this floor hasn’t had holes in it since 2004.

I should’ve said. I’m turning the floor into a giant drip tray

New doors that work/ aren’t full of cement. It’s going to be really novel not having to worry about them flying off when someone walks past it quickly. Also got some lights working in the rear. Makes a big difference and found a Royal Mail lighting box that I’m not sure what it does but it’s gone now. Also got a new rear door seal to take it another step away from “looks very Peter Sutcliffe”.

Finished the first of the insulation - under the new cab headliner (Tecsound, XPS foam, bubble wrap insulation and foil tape, vapour barrier). New to me headliner is much nicer. Turns out trying to jet wash the sin from the original one damaged it’s structural integrity. Plus it still looked like it was repurposed from a crack house. Also my passengers will stop asking if it really has a valid MOT thanks to the new pillar trim clips stopping it hanging off. Noticed some rust damage from leaks around the window but more around the antenna mount. Got rid of the antenna (will go DAB eventually) - rust converter/zinc primer/zinc top coat/sikaflex to hold it all together for a few more years.

Tomorrow I’ll finish things off and go buy a new 13mm socket after two fell off into the rear pillar pillar the new doors on. Of course there’s absolutely no way to retrieve them. Thanks again Ford.

Loving your work, as ever DG-Unit! If that donor van you got the doors from has a side door with glass in it, I'd be interested!

Yes. Keeping it OEM. I should probably wash it in rusty water to complete the ‘restoration’.
