Rear seat options and tracks compatibility

Postby Blizz » Mon Oct 25, 2021 12:54 pm

Hello,

My soon to be new Transit is a Kombi with a 3 seat bench at the rear. For my camper conversion it would have been ideal a 2+1 setup like the Custom but that was not possible in the Transit.

Is it possible to swap the three seat bench for the minibus seats? I'd need to have only 2 seats in the back biased to the rolling door oposite side.

My future Kombi will have those:

And I'd like to install those:

Do you know if the tracks are the same (Or can be moved if the holes are already there and tapped)?

If not I'll have to go in a future to a M1 legal dual seat base with Isofix (I think it's easier in the UK than in Spain).

Cheers,

David

Wouldn't 4 seats in the back have worked, because they are 2 + 2? Then just take a pair out.

I'm going to order 4 seats next time so I can have single front passenger seat. Also the benefit of easier to lift out the seats in pairs (3 seat bench is really heavy).

Sorry I can't answer the question, I never looked under the floor in the back.

I don't think I can order that config... It's strange because double cab vans have 4 seats in a single bench (Not supposed to be taken out) as cargo space is separated from cab.

The ones that are good are the minibus ones...

I've seen those in a L2H2 10+driver config.

Thanks,

Hello again,

My Transit should arrive finally next week to the dealer.

I've found some Dual Cab seats I'm going to buy ony one side:

They provide me the tracks too so in case I need to bolt them I already have them (Seems that the outer track will be needed).

Before buying those, does anyone know if the Transit Custom seats can be installed to a Transit? Having the 2+1 folding seats would be a plus.

Cheers,

David

I put in rails and seats from a custom torneo they can be taken out individually and also reversed to face backwards.

Though with 6 rails fitting was a bit of a headache.

I fitted the same. Rails were hard work but now fitted very happy. The torneo seats are really versatile and very comfortable.

I guess the rails didn’t just screw in there right?

My Transit is a Kombi so already has rails, but only three more or less evenly placed.

I'm confused, do you have a Mk8 or custom?

I have a mk8 L4H3 but the seats i had would have fit into a custom relatively easy seen as they were from a torneo.
The 2 x doubles you posted before look like what you get in a MK8 crew cab so they would likely go in easier or atleast give you a clear line up from under the van.

Transit L2H2, not Custom.

Lots of work measuring, drilling packing out and making spreader plates. The rails under the van made it particularly tricky but definitely dooable.
