Winch Refurbishment

Postby Galahad » Sat Dec 03, 2005 12:50 am

Ok, its not strictly Transit related, but there must be people on here with a Winch.

Im in the Bath area, and need my winch fixing, it won't hold properly once the winch is stopped. A proper heavy car has the ability to roll back off the beavertail, which isn't bloody ideal!

Any ideas or reccomendations?

Never had one in bits but i'm sure there is probably some sort of electomagnaic clutch/brake thing inside so if that was worn it may need replacing! Try giving the maker a call and see if they do a service kit for it!

Yeah like mike says try the makers - they might get you a parts diagram/ manual!
It might just be a simple clutch/ brake adjustment!! :D

unfortunatly my winch is mechnical!!! :(

Try a 4X4 spares on the web like http://www.paddockspares.com/shop/system/index.html

Does it have a manual lever to disengauge the clutch (so you can pull the rope out?) if it has this could be the trouble, also refurb kits come up on ebay occasionly :)
