handbook covering auto models

Postby pcatterall » Fri Aug 03, 2007 7:35 pm

Just bought a set of hand books for our van. They seem to be the right years but dont mention the autobox.
Is there a special book covering these models?

As I dont have the book can anyone confirm that if you can get out of 'manual' by just pressing auto.
I would quite like to use manual mode on some roads but dont want to stop to get back into auto.

Also the box may have gone into manual of its own accord, is this possible or did I press the buttons on the wheel by mistake?

Thanks guys!!

I'll see what I can find for you

You should be able to simply press "D" again, to revert to auto :!:

You probably did touch one of the four buttons

Many thanks Andy. There are some instructions on the sun visor. These indicate that you can just press the steering wheel buttons to get into and use 'manual' mode but dont mention getting out of it.
It does sound sensible that you just press the drive button.
Thanks again

Andy, thanks for your help on this. Those pages cover brakes, ABS breaking and traction control.
Nothing about automatic boxes at all.
I thought they usually covered every variation in these hand books but obviously not.
Just bought a hand book for my sons damaged recovered Focus, it has factory fitted LPG but, again, nothing in the book.
Thanks again for your help
Regards
Peter.

I would say you have got the wrong manual, I have 2 and they both cover the ASM.
