MK8 PD041D EGR temp sensor High

Postby The_crazed_one » Thu May 05, 2022 11:31 am

Hi All,

Loving the big stupid bus, I even got the auto step working like a dream. Next issue is the PD041D fault code. I assume the sensor is sooted up. I'm in need off either a workshop manual or decent diagram for the engine exhaust manifold so i can have a crack at it.

My local dealer (bristol Street Stafford) told me 'your model doesn't have ERG temp sensors' which is worrying.

Or if any of you fine people know a Staffordshire specialist I can take it too ? (ive not done any serious engine work for a while so independent specialist to show me the way, paid of course.)

What was used to read codes ?
Are you sure that’s the dtc given,as you’ve already been told, your van doesn’t have an EGR temp sensor,it does have exhaust gas temp sensors for the DPF…

Is this a stage 6 bus,so 2.2 with ad-blue ?

Hi Frag,

I used Forscan to read the codes and did some live capture. I triggered a static DPF regen and no issues with that. since then i get the PD041D code. I was hoping the regen would clear soot out and it would read again. I might be on the wrong path tho some of the other forum entries talk about the wiring loom being the issue

Stage 6 refers to the emissions level.
The Only 2.2 (puma engine) that was stage 6/ad-blue was the minibus variant.

Ad-blue wasn’t used on the vans till the 2.0 panther.

What year is this bus ?
Pm me the reg number so I can get the exact spec,as there are slight variations.

I’ve checked further now I know your vans spec,
EGR temp sensor location can be seen here.

That is the correct part, this is also correct and genuine Ford but doesn’t show its location.

You don’t need manifold off to replace this, though it may need some ‘heat’ if it’s tight or seized.

Frag , you're a life saver. thank you so much for your help.
I checked the soot level on forscan and its at 65% so i recon a clean out may save me the £160 sensor.
