Bonnet release

Postby Captain chaos » Fri May 20, 2022 8:26 pm

Today I went to open the bonnet only to find there is no key hole , took the grill off and took some pics but definitely no key hole or lock
Any idea how I can open it so I can get a new mech for it

if you can get a grinder/drill in there to carefully chew away at it until its free or worst case get a new bonnet and cut that section off to open it to gain access
is that rust spot new?

hi, I'm not sure what part to remove or what part should turn. As I've never seen a good one I can't see what's missing. Can you show which bit I would need to remove? When it has a lock in it which bit does the lock turn?

Is that the view from the top? So what am I missing and what part does the lock actually turn? If you take the lock off what do I have to move to release the catch?

Thanks for the picture at least I have some idea of what should be there when I open it

The round bit in the pic is inline with the hole in the grill

Thanks ...... I did have a look but can't seem to relate it to what I have there as without a lock or a barrel it don't seem to make sense with just that plate and the split round bit with the hole in it

thats the original barrel you should be able to drill that section out to access the mechanism behind
as worked out from images on this ebay listinghttps://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-TRANSIT-M ... 2615781149

Looking at this image

s-l400 (13).jpg

There is quite a complex piece of mech ....
On mine there is nothing there, just a square plate with that round part and nothing behind it
