Lucas epic pump, code 32

Postby Motor home man » Sat Jun 04, 2022 12:51 pm

Hi, having immobiliser problems with my 1999 transit motor home. Turn key to start all lights on dash come up, but nothing, dead. Immobiliser light flashes rapidly, then after awhile stops, then reads code 32. Been told a fault with engine stop on pump, also told this is a common fault with Lucas setup. Parts don’t seem to be available anymore for this pump, is that true. Can it be repaired, or as I’ve been told change, to the Bosch pump, please could someone advise what too do to solve the problem.

I’ve had the keys checked, wiring checked, fuses ok, relays ok. But no one can fix the problem, one mechanic even told me to donate it to a museum because of it age.

Nothing to do with the engine stop solenoid

Code 32 on an EPIC is a lack of communication between the PATS module and the ECU. This is by far and away the most common PATS issue on them.

I have had an ECU failure cause this is the past, however thats very rare. The most common fault, by a long way is the power hold relay has gone faulty. This relay supplies the power to the ECU and pump, so without it nothing works.

The relay is located in the auxillary fusebox in the engine bay, between the battery and engine bay. If you have a look at my facebook page I did a video describing this exact issue - showing the PATS code and the relay.
