Engine Service Now!!

Postby andilicious » Mon Jun 20, 2022 7:01 pm

So is there any guidance as to what would cause the van to go in limp mode and display this on the screen?

I have reset the service counter and it runs absolutely perfect for a few miles and then back to limp mode and Engine Service Now on the dash.

This morning I turned it on and there’s no check engine light or any sign of the need to service the van immediately.

I have it booked in for next week to be plugged in and checked what the codes are but just intrigued to see if this is a common problem. It is also getting a full service as well whilst in as the van is due it on time not mileage.

That's a catch-all fault message - it could be almost any fault. Likely candidates are turbo actuator or EGR.

Great. This happened on the drive home from buying it so either of them 2 things I’ll be pushing back to the seller I think!

I agree - you should be batting the problem back to the dealer (I'm assuming it's a dealer - private sale your on your own). Going forward get yourself a code reader, there're super easy to use and you can't bugger up your van using them.

Have you a link to a decent code reader? Never sure of what to buy!

It came up regularly on ours while in France while doing motorway drives (not something we do much in the UK) within half an hour of starting.

After some searches I expected it to be the MAF sensor, but after getting the codes scanned it turns out it was the DPF which wasn't re-genning properly. I should add the DPF light never came on.
