Mk7 cutting out

Postby DOL » Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:29 pm

Good evening I have a mk7 2.4 tdci rwd 140ps,its encountered a problem where whilst driving it cuts out like I've turned the ignition off, most of the time foot off throttle and back on and it carry on driving ( loud clicking from under seat when it happens) sometimes it cuts out and comes to a stop with engine Malfunction light on and just turns over, turn it off wait a few seconds and it starts, also does it whilst ticking over, I've changed ignition switch but it's not cured it any help/advise greatly appreciated

Better to get Forscan an adaptor ELM 327 USB FTDI from Tunnel rats.
See the codes.

Get clicks from under the seat on my van just after turning the starter key. 2 batteries.

If sanity is an aeroplane the penguins are highly likely to take it.

Loud clicking from under the seat, sounds like the battery connector relay is playing up, but I don't know how or why that would cause the engine to cut out :?
Are the batteries both good, Dol :?:

Check or replace the ignition switch too, if it disconnects it will shut the battery connector relay off.

Could it be a bad connection where the BCM plugs into the loom? Corroded or bent connector?

What Altransit said....if that proves ok, do your interior cab lights work..?? They share a fuse with the OBD-II port.

BCM is behind the passenger fuse box, which is behind the glove box

The fuse box unclips and pivots out of the way, to expose the BCM (which also has fuses on it)
